What Is Movement Dysfunction?
Movement dysfunction occurs when normal body biomechanics are altered in a way that limits effective or efficient performance. This may result from pain, injury, illness, or changes in physical health and activity. It can affect the neuromuscular system, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, or respiratory system.
Common causes include injury or accidents, repetitive or sustained physical activity, poor posture or movement patterns, congenital or developmental conditions, disease or illness, age-related changes, and psychological or social stress.
Who Benefits from Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is appropriate for individuals at any age or activity level who are recovering from acute injuries, managing chronic pain or conditions, preparing for or recovering from surgery, returning to work or sport, or seeking to improve overall physical function.
