Custom bracing provides targeted support for injured or vulnerable joints, helping to protect healing tissue, reduce pain, and restore confidence in movement. At KHS, braces are assessed, fitted, and adjusted by experienced clinicians to ensure optimal fit and function throughout your rehabilitation.
When Custom Bracing Is Used
Custom bracing may be recommended for ligament injuries and sprains, post-surgical joint protection, osteoarthritis management, chronic joint instability, and return-to-sport protection following injury.
Please note: Bauerfeind and DonJoy Custom products are typically covered under most extended health plans.
Our Process
Every brace is selected and fitted based on a thorough clinical assessment of your injury, activity demands, and recovery goals. Once a fitting session has been completed, we receive the brace within a week. The cost of the custom brace includes the initial sizing appointment, ordering and shipping costs, brace education, and an application appointment. Follow-up adjustments are also included to ensure the brace continues to meet your needs as your rehabilitation progresses.
Custom Knee Bracing – DonJoy
We provide custom knee bracing using DonJoy braces. The custom Defiance is DonJoy’s flagship knee brace. With clinically-proven technology including the 4-Points-of-Leverage System™ plus innovative, high-tech materials and design, this lightweight brace provides durable support for moderate-to-severe ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL instabilities. Plus, the low-profile design fits comfortably underneath clothing and sports uniforms, including hockey and football.
As the strongest of DonJoy’s functional braces, the custom, carbon composite Defiance is recommended for high-collision sports, while its featherweight materials and custom fit also make it the brace of choice for activities of daily living. It is available with the LoPro FourcePoint Hinge, the only hinge clinically-proven to protect the ACL. Defiance technology is on the field, on the court, on the slopes, and in the water—protecting knees and providing confidence to those who wear it. Bauerfeind Bracing & Orthoses
Whether you experience pain in the knees, back, hands, elbows, or shoulders, Bauerfeind Train® Supports are designed to restore mobility and improve performance. They are made from an anatomically knitted breathable fabric with visco-elastic inserts. As the joint moves, they provide a therapeutic massage and support. Orthoses are used primarily to control, stabilize, or immobilize a joint. Stabilizing orthoses from the Loc® product range provide relief and support. Functional orthoses from the SecuTec® product range help to restore mobility. SofTec® multifunctional orthoses can be used as fixed or mobile supports, depending on your treatment plan.
Compression Therapy
Performance and Training Socks
For athletes involved in any activity from CrossFit to long-distance running, Performance and Training Socks can improve both performance and recovery. The Compression Sock Training sports stocking has special functional zones with light compression to provide protection in stop-and-go sports involving rapid turning and jumping movements, like football, basketball, or tennis. The stocking’s taping zone helps to create a greater feeling of stability in the ankle, while its muscle-toning zone specifically stimulates the calf muscles during movement.
The sports stocking’s pressure profile is based on medical standards: the continuous compression decreases from ankle to calf. This stimulates the circulation in the legs, reduces tiring muscle vibrations, and helps counterbalance the stress exerted during sporting activities. Better support is provided for muscles over long distances, so they can continue to perform for longer.
