What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a regulated health care profession focused on restoring movement, reducing pain, and improving physical function — primarily through the rehabilitation of movement dysfunction: conditions that affect how the body moves, performs, and responds to physical demands.

What Makes Our Physiotherapists Different

A movement dysfunction occurs when normal body biomechanics are altered in a way that limits effective or efficient performance. This may result from pain, injury, illness, or changes in physical health and activity.

Common Causes of Movement Dysfunction

  • Injury or accidents
  • Repetitive or sustained physical activity
  • Poor posture or movement patterns
  • Congenital conditions or developmental differences
  • Disease or medical conditions
  • Age-related changes
  • Psychological or social stress

Body Systems That May Be Affected

  • Neuromuscular system (nerves and muscles)
  • Musculoskeletal system (bones, joints, and soft tissues)
  • Respiratory system (lungs and breathing)
  • Cardiovascular system (heart and circulation)

Our physiotherapists assess, diagnose, and treat movement dysfunction using evidence-based techniques designed to restore mobility, reduce pain, improve strength and function, and support safe return to daily activities, work, and sport.
