Nelson BC Kinesiology
Kinesiology therapeutic exercise programming focuses on restoring movement, improving strength and mobility, and supporting long-term health through individualized, evidence-based exercise plans. Our kinesiologists use targeted exercise strategies to help clients recover from injury, manage chronic conditions, and build the physical capacity needed for daily activities, work, and sport.
At KHS, every therapeutic exercise program begins with a comprehensive assessment of movement patterns, strength, flexibility, balance, and functional abilities — and is carefully tailored to your goals, condition, and stage of recovery. The KHS Kinesiologist will liaise with your family physician, other treating therapists, and/or coaches to design an exercise program that is safe, effective, and goal-oriented.
Who Can Benefit?
Kinesiology is appropriate for individuals who are recovering from injury or surgery, managing chronic pain or medical conditions, returning to work or sport, looking to improve strength, mobility, and physical function, working to prevent injury or re-injury, or managing age-related changes in strength, balance, or mobility.
What Our Programs Include
Programs are built around a thorough initial assessment and may incorporate strength and conditioning exercises, mobility and flexibility training, balance and stability training, postural correction, movement retraining, functional and task-specific exercises, return-to-work and return-to-sport conditioning, and injury prevention strategies.
We extensively use the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Y-balance test to analyze movement patterns and injury risk. We provide targeted corrective exercises, mobility techniques, and sport-specific programming. Our goal is to keep you on the field, on the job, and in the “game” with optimal performance. We strive not only to rehabilitate your injury but to identify the risk of injury BEFORE it happens!
Clients have exclusive access to the FMS exercise programming software to view their individual programs. They are also provided with a summary of their FMS screen and Y-Balance test results in comparison with gender, age, and sport-specific norms.
All programs are delivered in our dedicated private rehabilitation and performance facility, or can be provided in the home or community gym setting. Treatments are guided by ongoing assessment to ensure progress, safety, and optimal outcomes.
