Why a Physiotherapist-Led Fitting Matters
While many bike shops offer basic sizing, our physiotherapists bring a deep, clinical understanding of human anatomy, joint kinematics, and biomechanics that goes far beyond standard fitting protocols. At KHS, your fitting is guided by the exact same clinical knowledge that informs injury prevention and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. We don’t just adjust the bike to look right; we analyze how your body moves and adapts to the machine. This gives you a customized fit that is not just comfortable, but genuinely protective against long-term wear and tear.
Benefits of a Professional Fit
Even millimeter adjustments to your saddle or cleats can drastically alter muscle recruitment and reduce shearing forces on your joints. Benefits of our specialized fitting include:
- Personalized Biomechanical Adjustments: Precise positioning based on your individual anatomy, baseline flexibility, previous injury history, and specific riding goals.
- Injury Prevention & Management: Addressing the root biomechanical causes of common cycling injuries, including anterior knee pain, lower back aches, IT band syndrome, neck stiffness, and nerve compression causing hand and foot numbness.
- Enhanced Athletic Performance: Optimizing your kinetic chain for maximum power output, smoother pedalling efficiency, and improved muscular endurance over long distances.
- Greater Comfort & Control: Reducing unnecessary strain across your entire body, allowing for better handling and enjoyment on longer rides and varied terrain.
Our Fitting Process
Your comprehensive bike fitting begins off the bike with a thorough clinical assessment of your body mechanics, core stability, joint mobility, and cycling goals. Next, we transition to the bike to evaluate your dynamic riding posture. Based on this analysis, we make precise adjustments to your saddle height and fore/aft position, handlebar reach and drop, cleat placement, and other key contact points. A follow-up check is also available to ensure the fit continues to serve you perfectly as your riding develops and your body adapts.
