Purpose<\/h3>\n<p>The Nelson Soccer Association (NSA) is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all individuals feel welcomed, valued, and supported in their participation in soccer. This policy outlines our commitment to inclusion, ensuring all players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators have equal opportunities, regardless of background or identity.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Scope<\/h3>\n<p>This policy applies to all NSA members, including but not limited to players, coaches, referees, administrators, volunteers, and spectators involved in any NSA-sanctioned activities.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Definitions<\/h3>\n<h4>Diversity<\/h4>\n<p>Diversity is the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, indigeneity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sex, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religion, national origin, political beliefs, body type, athletic ability, ancestry, colour, citizenship, creed, disability, family or marital status. Diversity embraces people\u2019s characteristics and qualities, unique backgrounds, experiences, and ways of relating to one another.<\/p>\n<h4>Equity<\/h4>\n<p>Equity recognizes that individuals do not always \u2018start at the same place\u2019 due to different advantages, challenges or barriers that exist. Equity is taking action to make the appropriate modifications to provide everyone access to the same opportunities.<\/p>\n<h4>Inclusion<\/h4>\n<p>Inclusion is when everyone feels welcome and has a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Commitment to DEI<\/h3>\n<p>NSA is committed to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing an environment free of discrimination, harassment, and exclusion.<\/li>\n<li>Promoting equity by identifying and eliminating barriers to participation. NSA will consider making accommodations for individuals where doing so would support diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging NSA board and staff to participate in diversity and inclusion training and providing educational resources\/financial support for same.<\/li>\n<li>Actively seeking viewpoints and experiences from underrepresented and marginalized groups to facilitate their full and meaningful participation in all aspects of soccer.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that all policies, programs, and practices are inclusive and reflective of the diverse community we serve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>5. Reporting &amp; Accountability<\/h3>\n<p>Any individual who experiences or witnesses exclusionary behaviour, discrimination, or harassment is encouraged to report it to NSA, via our Incident Form (copies available at the indoor facility, Lakeside field house, or online at <a href=\"mailto:ecrb@nelsonsoccer.ca\">ecrb@nelsonsoccer.ca<\/a>). NSA will ensure a confidential and fair process for addressing concerns.<\/p>\n<p>NSA will regularly review and update this policy to reflect best practices and ensure the association remains an inclusive and welcoming organization for all members.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Approved by:<\/strong> Nelson Soccer Association Board<br \/>\n<strong>Effective Date:<\/strong> April 7, 2025<br
